Laneige Water Sleeping Mask

I’m here to talk to you about a sample, so that must mean #SampleSunday is here! w00t! ūü§ó¬†Today we’re going to talk about a mask, a sleeping mask to be exact! This is the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask. If you’re not familiar with K-Beauty (or Korean Beauty), then just know that Laneige is a brand that has crossed over to the Western world in a big way, being sold at Sephora in Canada/US* and at Target in the States. Laneige is one of those brands that is mid-range in price. Not high end like say Amore Pacific or Sulwahsoo, but not uber affordable like Etude House or Skin Food. In the States I would say its the Origins amidst the range of Algenist down to Neutrogena.

So what is the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask?* Let’s take a look at the claims, courtesy of Laneige. According to the site, the Water Sleeping Mask is meant to hydrate and lock in moisture, brighten and purify the skin with Apricot and Evening Primrose extracts and soothe and relax with Sleepscent‚ĄĘ, “an essential blend of ylang ylang, rose, sandalwood oil and orange flower, to relax and calm.” Additionally, the product does not contain parabens or phthalates.

Lastly, this product appears to have been reformulated, so what you see here and what I’ll attest to is the newer formula and is sold in the US. Read more…

NARS Orgasm Blush

Ah, the infamous NARS Orgasm blush. I admit that I was pretty behind on getting this product. *Spoiler Alert: I bought this already* But I feel it necessary to document my reasoning for still getting this product. Also, I’ve got some good dupes, so you’ll want to see those. Maybe its something you have in your collection?

So if you’ve been living under a rock, makeup lovers around the globe love the NARS Orgasm blush.* It’s peachy, shimmery and compliment so many skin tones. I found this little sample on one of the inserts in an Allure magazine (btw, best part of getting the hard copy of the magazine), and I thought why not, right? So before I show some swatches, let’s first find out what NARS says about the product. According to NARS, who claims to be the “ultimate authority in blush,” the Orgasm blush is one of the “industry’s most iconic shades for cheeks. Natural, healthy-looking color that immediately enlivens the complexion. A light application of even the highest-intensity hues delivers a natural-looking flush.”

So is this blush a natural flush on the cheeks? Let’s look at some swatches. After that, we can check out some dupes and you can decide if you need to hold out or cave in like I did. Picture heavy post incoming! Read more…

NeoStrata Restore Facial Cleanser

Aaaaand, we’re back! Disappeared for a bit there, but I’m definitely back. I decided to take that quick break to really gather my thoughts on the blog and¬†my stash, but now that I have it all figured out, let’s get to work!

Today’s #SampleSunday is another face product. I know, I know, I use a ton of new face products, but its all in the name of blogging. Up for review is the NeoStrata Restore Facial Cleanser.* NeoStrata claims this product to, “start your skin care regimen with a soap-free facial cleanser that gently exfoliates without drying the skin.” Additionally, NeoStrata claims the inclusion of Polyhydroxy Acid Gluconolactone provides anti-aging benefits and that the cleansing removes impurities and makeup and is ideal for all skin types and is gentle enough for those with sensitive or acne-prone skin.

Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Nightly Brightening Pads

August is here?! I swear, the older I get, the more the year flies by. Amirite?¬†ūüėȬ†Anywho, let’s get to sampling, shall we? You know how you go to Ulta and there’s the aisle of doom, but there’s also a kiosk section with travel sizes? At least mine does… Anyways, I was on the hunt for a specific product, couldn’t find it, so I picked up the¬†Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Nightly Brightening Pads.* I had not seen this around and I was looking for a toner pad to take with me on a trip, so I thought “why not?” Right?

So what are the¬†Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Nightly Brightening Pads? According to Juice Beauty, the Green Apple Peel Nightly Brightening Pads, “help brighten, smooth and tone while reducing the appearance of dark spots, fine lines and wrinkles.” Juice Beauty also states, “these luxurious, eco-friendly bamboo pads are saturated with antioxidant-rich organic fruit acids to brighten while extracts of algae, Vitamin B3 and plant-derived sodium hyaluronate reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as dark spots and discoloration, for optimum age-defying results.” In addition, the brand says these pads are good for almost all skin types, minus those with sensitive or rosacea skin, and for those in their 20’s and up.

Other bits to know, the¬†Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Nightly Brightening Pads is formulated without¬†parabens, petroleum, propylene or butylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfates, pesticides, phthalates, artificial dyes or synthetic fragrances. I haven’t mentioned yet, but Juice Beauty is also cruelty-free. I’ve given my thoughts on parabens in the past, but if the exclusion of such an ingredient means something to you, keep that in mind.

Knowing all of that, let’s take a brief look at the ingredients and then my thoughts on the product! Below are the ingredients (as listed on CosDNA): Read more…

OGX Weightless Hydration Coconut Water Shampoo and Conditioner

I’m so picky when it comes to hair care. Growing up in a salon made it difficult to trust anything that’s sold in the drugstore. You can’t imaging how many times, from various stylists, about how there’s nothing of high quality in the drugstore. However, as time went on, and times got financially trying, I began to venture to the land of cheaper deals for hair care. In comes OGX. I’ve always been curious about the brand and had wanted to try their products, but I never knew where to start. I’ve been lucky enough to be sent some products, so today we’ll talk about a set I recently emptied. Let’s chat about the¬†OGX Weightless Hydration Coconut Water Shampoo & Conditioner.

So what is the OGX Weightless Hydration Coconut Water¬†range? This range is coconut water based and¬†is, “…an ultra-light splash of hydration infused with coconut water, electrolytes and coconut oil helps take your hair from parched to silky, shiny perfection.” So did this range provide that? I’ll go through the ingredients and then talk about my experience with the products. Read more…
