Other than the few facts you now know about me, I figured the next best way to get to know me is to go through my
trash empties! I don’t have much here from the month of April, but I figured its a place to start. One thing to know about my empties is that you’ll see I do like to use a lot of the same types of products, but I always talk about whether my opinion changes over time. Additionally, I do label whether products are cruelty-free or not (if known). Also, order will always be skincare (broken up into masks, cleansing and/or treatment/moisturizers), body care, hair care, makeup (if any) and any other miscellaneous beauty/hygiene products. Now that you know all of this, let’s get to it!
Oh and one more thing: Everyone’s skin is entirely different! What works for me, may not work for you and vice versa. I always like to disclose what doesn’t work for me and what does, but I do try to say if I think it could work for other skin types or what the best use I’ve found may be. With that said, NOW let’s get to it!
Banobagi Water Glow Injection Mask | I posted a pic of me using this on Instagram not too long ago. Can I just say how much I loved this? I seriously loved how moisturizing this is. Also, it didn’t break me out nor did it leave me feeling sticky. The mask itself is a nice, thicker cotton, too. Definitely a fan and I will be stocking up on this. It is a bit pricier, but it was well worth it.
Pure Smile Art Mask Jiro Facial Mask in Syujin No.0 | Pure Smile masks are super fun. I mean, who doesn’t want to be a cat or a sugar skull or in this case a stone monster? I mean, c’mon! But on the real, these masks are packed with Hyaluronic Acid and are beyond moisturizing. I use this after mud masks and they just bring all the life back into my skin. I pick mine up in San Francisco, but you can find them online.
CosRX Holy Moly Snail Mask | I love snail masks. I know, some of you cringe and others are high-fiving. Back at you dawg. But regardless of your thoughts on snail essence/mucus in beauty products, this mask is a good stepping stone into snail products. Its very moisturizing and always has a bit of extra essence that I rub on my neck and hands. I like to use this after something drying like a mud mask. The sheet is nice a light and it feels super cool to the touch. I would definitely buy these again, but if you’re looking for that ultra amazing snail mask, this isn’t it. But it is nice!
Sephora Collection Honey Eye Mask | Well there may be a good reason this is discontinued. This did nothing for my eyes and it really was a bit of a worthless mask. I love eye masks, but these just felt like they were there and not actually helping. When I use eye masks like this, I want my under eyes to feel hydrated and cooled. This didn’t leave me feeling hydrated at all. Yuck. Cruelty-free, except where required by law.
TONYMOLY I’m Real Radiance Tomato Mask Sheet* | These I’m Real masks are my favorite, cheap mask. The sheet is nice and soft and the essence is wonderful. I have dull skin, so I tend to stick to the Tomato, Lemon and Pearl masks. Did I mention cheap? I order mine online, but if you’re in a pinch or want to try before buying bulk, you can find them at Ulta! Holla!
Que Bella Purifying Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Mud Mask* | I see these little packets at Target and they’re good for something quick and on-the-go, but not like a tried and true kind of deal. I happened to want to try everything so I gave it a go. It was just meh.
The Face Shop The Solution Collagen Firming Face Mask | I did this mask just the other day and it was absolutely amazing. My skin really soaked up the essence right away. It did have some excess and I was able to slap it all over my neck and décolletage. Always a fan of using the excess for that. Anyways, I noticed my skin just looked plumper and felt softer after using this. I would definitely recommend this for prior to an event.
The Skin Food Black Sugar Mask Wash Off will be reviewed in an upcoming #SampleSunday post. Stayed tuned!
Yes To Grapefruit Correct & Repair Rejuvenating Facial Wipes* | I absolutely love Yes To’s grapefruit range and these wipes are a big part of that love. They’re okay at removing light makeup, but the real great part about this wipe is using it as a morning cleanse on-the-go or as toner. Cruelty-free.
derma e Hydrating Night Creme* | This is a sample size that I got in the January 2016 Allure Beauty Box, but I didn’t feel the need to dedicate a whole post on just this. It’s old, yes and the old packaging, yes again. But that isn’t why. I think this is a fantastic introductory night cream, but if you’ve got concerns like wrinkles and not dehydration lines, then you may want something more. Best for the younger, drier crowd. Cruelty-free.
Juice Beauty Green Apple Nightly Brightening Pads* | I bought a pack of these and I’ve only used a few. I will be doing a more thorough review on these, but these are effective. Great toner on-the-go. Seeing a pattern? I don’t travel often, but I love to have travel friendly products for the off chance I do. Also one last thing about this product, this is best for those who aren’t as sensitive. I found that when my skin was having one of those days, it was a bit stingy. Cruelty-free.
Poetic Blend The Hero Oil | And one more sample. This came in my July 2016 Petit Vour box. I typically don’t like squalane oil, but there’s something about this blend. This oil didn’t feel heavy and was moisturizing enough to wear in both Las Vegas and in Arizona, where the climate can be a bit drier than home. I have one more sample of this so perhaps I can go more into this in the future. Cruelty-free.
Burt’s Bees Acne Solutions Spot Treatment* | I emptied two of these and that’s pretty intense. I was having some breakouts, which isn’t typical of my skin, but the weather has been finicky. Its warm, its cold, its raining, its windy, you get the picture. Because of this, my skin goes nuts. I remember I liked this, but not as much as the Herbal Blemish Stick. Cruelty-free.
Missha Natural Soft Jelly Cleansing Puff (White Clay) | I buy these in bulk just because they’re easy to use. I typically like to use some other sort of cleansing tool, but every now and then I’m a fan of these. However, my pre-teen daughter and teen son love konjac sponges to help wash their faces. I don’t think this is anything that’s particularly special, but it is a nice sponge. Soaks up water nicely and is soft once completely soaked. Decent product and good for those who want an intro sponge.
Tarte TarteGuard Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30* | One of the best sunscreens hands down for sensitive or oily skin. I found this kept my oilier areas dry throughout the day and didn’t feel heavy or gross. Would recommend for say, running errands? At the office? It doesn’t have a high enough SPF count to be your active day sunscreen though. A good everyday, let’s not get too sweaty and gross sunscreen, but not play at the beach or go for a hike sunscreen. Once it gets closer to summer, say in a few weeks, I’ll post a write up on my favorite sunscreens. You best believe this will be in there. Cruelty-free.
The SK-II Facial Treatment Essence will be reviewed in an upcoming #SampleSunday post. Stayed tuned!
Shea Moisture Sacha Inchi Rescue Massage Oil | This massage oil can be used to moisturize the skin, but it can also be used in the bath. I never did use it that way, but I did slather this on after showers constantly. You do need to be a bit damp for the oil to soak right in, but once it does, you feel pretty darn smooth. This lasted for quite some time and I thoroughly enjoyed it. No discernible scent that I could tell either. Would I buy it again? But I would reserve this for Winter or those extra dry days. Cruelty-free.
Pacifica Hand & Body Lotion Wipes in Tahitian Garden | Another discontinued product. I found this at Marshalls. Can you tell I like to shop there? Oh man… There’s clearly a reason the brand ditched these. These are not-so moist wet wipes that do nothing for your skin. I bought these for a trip thinking they’d be great to keep in my carry-on to moisturize throughout the day. Nope! These feel cool, but that’s it. No moisturizing or anything. Money wasted, but at least I didn’t pay full price! Cruelty-free.
Illume Go Be Lovely Triple Milled Bar Soap in Desert Tulip | This bar soap took forever to finally finish. It’s a lovely, but light scent and didn’t leave my skin feeling squeaky clean or dry. The last bit is more important to me. Would I purchase again? Meh, I don’t think so. I love bar soaps, but this didn’t wow me. I think this brand makes better fragrances and home scents than body products. I found mine at Marshalls on the cheap, but you can find it from a variety of retailers. Cruelty-free.
Eucerin Intensive Repair Hand Cream | This is the hand cream that I used at work during the Winter months and it really is a life saver. I’m an avid hand washer, so my hands are already dry. Couple that with Winter and you get a sore, crackling mess. A little goes a long way with this cream and I like that it didn’t have a scent. I’m a fan of scentless hand creams, especially when my allergies kick in randomly. This version is discontinued, but you can find the updated formula in the Advanced Repair version.
Royal Apothic Cream Creme Body Cream in Cutting Garden | I got this in my January 2016 Glossybox. I was not a fan of this. The scent was okay, but it did nothing for my legs. I took this with me to Arizona a couple of months ago and while it wasn’t incredibly dry there, my dry skin got no soothing from this. I had to keep it with me so I could apply it throughout the day! I ended up using this as a hand cream at home and it was better, but not great at that either. I don’t think I would recommend this to anyone. Cruelty-free.
Givenchy Very Irresistible Eau de Parfum | I got this as a sample with my second-to-last Sephora order and used it the next day. Not only was this pretty empty (I got one use out of it), it just didn’t fit my style. I think it may be because I’m not a fan of most rose scents. If you dig floral, Spring-like scents, this is for you.
Bliss Fabulips Sugar Lip Scrub | I’ve had this for quite some time, too. I really just wanted to get rid of it, not just for sanitary reasons, but this just did nothing for my lips. My lips weren’t any softer after using this and it was just messy with the larger bits in the tub. Ugh.
MAKE UP FOR EVER Smokey Extravagant Mascara | I believe this was a not-so-recent Sephora birthday gift… Not exactly sure. I know I had this sitting in my mascara drawer for some time. I loved this. I’m a fan of chunky wands and soft bristles, so this was right up my alley. I didn’t have any issues with clumping or flaking. Would highly recommend if you want length, volume and lasting power.
Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Shampoo | This was the shampoo that my youngest was using. She finally finished it! I used it prior and I really did like it myself. The scent is wonderful, given you’re a fan of coconut scents. Also, it really did moisturize my hair, but made her hair super soft. It also worked great on preventing both of our hair from frizzing. For reference, my daughter has curly hair and mine is wavy. She just had her hair colored, so now she’ll be needing color enhancing/prolonging products, but I’m sure she’d default to this if she had the choice.
And that’s it for my empties from April! Have you tried any of these products? Did they work or were they a total miss? Also, do you have any recommendations for me to try? For right now, looks like I’ll be on the market for a lighter body oil but I’m always on the market for a good facial wipe. And lastly, what empties do you have that you’d like to share your experience with?
I hope you’ve all had a wonderful day! Sunday will be my first #SampleSunday post.
