I’m here to talk to you about a sample, so that must mean #SampleSunday is here! w00t! 🤗 Today we’re going to talk about a mask, a sleeping mask to be exact! This is the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask. If you’re not familiar with K-Beauty (or Korean Beauty), then just know that Laneige is a brand that has crossed over to the Western world in a big way, being sold at Sephora in Canada/US* and at Target in the States. Laneige is one of those brands that is mid-range in price. Not high end like say Amore Pacific or Sulwahsoo, but not uber affordable like Etude House or Skin Food. In the States I would say its the Origins amidst the range of Algenist down to Neutrogena.
So what is the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask?* Let’s take a look at the claims, courtesy of Laneige. According to the site, the Water Sleeping Mask is meant to hydrate and lock in moisture, brighten and purify the skin with Apricot and Evening Primrose extracts and soothe and relax with Sleepscent™, “an essential blend of ylang ylang, rose, sandalwood oil and orange flower, to relax and calm.” Additionally, the product does not contain parabens or phthalates.
Lastly, this product appears to have been reformulated, so what you see here and what I’ll attest to is the newer formula and is sold in the US.
If you’re like me, you love samples. I would base my Sephora shopping sprees off of what cool coupon code came in via email. “Oh, is that a sample of Sunday Riley Luna? Let me see what I can add to my cart to nab that.” Chances were it was some collection of samples that Sephora put out… I told you, I just loooove samples. (I hope you read that in Krombopulos Michael‘s voice. You’re the best if you did. 💗)
On top of that, if you buy from almost any k-beauty site, you get to either pick samples or they send you some at random. It got to a point where I would collect them like the hoarder I am was. However, I’m here to help you not get like that. And by that I mean this. Now this isn’t a guide, but from what I’ve experienced as I’ve used each of these subscription services myself. I’ll also tell you which ones I’ll go back to once I’m officially off the no-buy. So let’s actually figure out, how do you choose the right subscription service for you.
Ah, the infamous NARS Orgasm blush. I admit that I was pretty behind on getting this product. *Spoiler Alert: I bought this already* But I feel it necessary to document my reasoning for still getting this product. Also, I’ve got some good dupes, so you’ll want to see those. Maybe its something you have in your collection?
So if you’ve been living under a rock, makeup lovers around the globe love the NARS Orgasm blush.* It’s peachy, shimmery and compliment so many skin tones. I found this little sample on one of the inserts in an Allure magazine (btw, best part of getting the hard copy of the magazine), and I thought why not, right? So before I show some swatches, let’s first find out what NARS says about the product. According to NARS, who claims to be the “ultimate authority in blush,” the Orgasm blush is one of the “industry’s most iconic shades for cheeks. Natural, healthy-looking color that immediately enlivens the complexion. A light application of even the highest-intensity hues delivers a natural-looking flush.”
So is this blush a natural flush on the cheeks? Let’s look at some swatches. After that, we can check out some dupes and you can decide if you need to hold out or cave in like I did. Picture heavy post incoming!
This is my first full empties being on my no-buy. I’m pretty happy I’ve made it this far. I’m hoping to go through all the samples and full sizes I have, but perhaps I should set my goal on 3 months. Anyways, there’s quite a bit here so grab some tea or coffee and let’s get through it! Below are all of my thoughts on my September Empties!
Favorites are something that I’ve not really done. The most I talk about products is either a review or empties post… I’m exploring new territory here! It’s new and over time will improve. But for the time being, these are products that I’ve been using over and over, my current beauty favorites! I would typically start from left to right, but I think I’ll sort by category:
